Let your loved one know you’re praying for them

This is an important first step, and one that we can over-think.  But it’s as simple as one action, sending your loved one a card (yes, in the mail) that says “I have been thinking about you lately.  I want you to know that I pray for you every day.  I pray that you will have a great life.  And I pray that you’ll know how much you are loved by God and how much you are loved by me.

Pray for them daily

Share weekly reminders with them about what you love about your faith, and how that reminded you of them

This may be the most challenging step, yet it is very important.  You should find ways to consistently share messages of Faith with them

Give them gifts which allow them opportunities to reconnect on their terms

This is the most fun, and the easiest step, and it’s a time when you can share your heartfeldt care for your loved ones in tangible ways.

Show them love for who they are, not what they do

This final step is immensely important.  You should consistently affirm for your loved ones that you love them for who they are, not what they do.

This means that you should not let your loved ones feel that your love is contingent upon their conversion of heart.  But instead, your desire for them is to live the best life.  You will not force them, and you will let them make their own decisions.  And you will love them, regardless of their decisions.  But you will be a consistent reminder to them of how to live a life that will bring them joy in Jesus Christ through our Catholic Faith.
